4 Months No Poo Update

Hi guys,

So, the last time I left you with my update on no poo I said I’d gone back to shampoo bars full time. I was very happy with this for a while, but results really did vary at times leaving me so frustrated! I couldn’t handle it so I decided to go BS/ACV full time.

I’ve now been fully BS/ACV for almost two months and I am very happy with it. My hair has fully adjusted and really seems to like it . I am slightly worried though as I’m going on holiday next month and don’t want to chance taking baking soda through security at the airport, so I may well need to take my shampoo bar with me *sadface*

I am off to Berlin which I have read has very hard water?. I have been 3 times previous, but obviously before I had always used nasty shampoo, so it was never a problem back then. If anyone has any suggestions that would help me out please leave a comment 🙂

I also apologise that I keep forgetting to take pictures to post, but I swear I will try get loads on holiday that I can post up and you can see I do exist!

To sum up my no poo experience thus far…I will honestly never turn back to detergent loaded shampoo! My hair is growing faster, looking healthier, less split ends and actually has more curl than I’ve seen in years!.

Keep it up guys don’t ever go back!

2 Months No Poo Update

I started going No Poo around mid-march. It wasn’t a great success for me as baking soda dried my hair out terribly and ACV  made it lank, I could never seem to get the balance right!

I moved onto shampoo bars after ordering a few samples on Etsy. I had much better results with those, but i got the waxy build up and just couldn’t handle covering my hair in dry shampoo to make it look “ok”, so i gave up and decided that no poo wasn’t for me, It was such hard work! (I was around 2-3 weeks in by that point).

I moved onto “Low Poo” choosing to go with Dr Organics manuka honey shampoo & Australian Organics conditioner pictured below.

This has been the best thing i could’ve done with my hair and i would advise others to start off “low poo” before going cold turkey. The first few washes were still a little waxy with the shampoo but honestly maybe only the first 3 and then it seemed to really start easing off. The conditioner works great but it is not like an intensive one that’s going to make your fried ends disappear as it is “cone free” but it still is a great everyday conditioner and works well to moisturise.

I have now started to go back to shampoo bars and i seem to be getting great results from them now, they give my hair so much body! I do a spray of acv and leave it in to balance ph. I might be tempting fate here, but i think my hair could be adjusting to the no poo way of life now. I no longer use cone loaded heat protector on my hair when i straighten (which i rarely do nowadays) i’ve been using argan secret leave in spray and i only use it on my ends as it does contain 1 silicone, but it’s right at the bottom of the ingredients list, so certainly not as bad as all the old junk i used to put on my hair and think it was doing it  “good”.

I will keep on with this and update again. It’s still a learning curve and who knows what will happen 🙂

The No Poo Experiment!

I am starting to get into using shampoo bars. I do have to say finding them is actually proving quite difficult in the UK as all the companies I’ve looked at or heard rave reviews about are in the USA.I have ordered some sample sizes from a UK company on Etsy and so far only one of the bars are really working for me. I am only going into my second week of no poo though and i did use silicone laden products for donkeys years!.Today I purchased a natural shampoo and conditioner to use in conjunction with the bars as i did find my hair was needing conditioner badly after using them, so i will press on with them all and hopefully come back and give my thoughts in a few weeks depending on how long this adjustment period takes!.

Have you gone no poo? Used shampoo bars? Let me know your thoughts on the whole process.
